the New Location!

Last minute plans for our location for the opening sequence, providing us with more filming time as the cemetery shut at 4pm, which meant there was too much sunlight. Our new location is under a bridge alongside a small flow of water near Roneo Corner, Romford. This location enabled us to maintain the horror theme because of the water, mud and darkness of under the bridge

CAPTIVE

INT. BROMLEY PARK LAKE– NIGHT

On this evening in Bromley park , the CAMERAMAN along with the reporter make their way to the location in order to deliver the report on a supposed ghost sighting of a woman which vanished a few years previous.

Cuts to the report being given as the surroundings remain silent and the flow of the lake is heard in the background.

(REPORTER) JESSICA TENNANT

(gentle yet sharp tone of voice through the silence)

This is JESSICA TENNANT reporting for Channel 4 news live from Bromley Park. Now, you may remember a few years ago a woman in her mid 30's vanished as she walked past this lake. A sighting of a mysterious figure has been supposidly seen in this very lake. We're not quite sure what we are looking for. Family members have been made aware of this..

CAMERAMAN

(Shouting and interrupting the report)

Oh my god, what is that?

The camera is knocked to the ground in response the alarm that is caused..

JESSICA is subsequently dragged away by an unknown being which is not visible to the CAMERAMAN nor JESSICA.

 CAMERAMAN

(shouting at the top of her lungs, fear in her voice)

Let her go whoever you are!

INT. DARK CAVE - NIGHT

JESSICA is discovered in the hands of a being, being dragged by a spirit through the darkness, feet scraping along the floor beyond her control, she has become the next victim of the lurking spirit.

(REPORTER) JESSICA TENNANT
(Screaming in fear)
Somebody help me!

CAMERAMAN examines the scene of the event and soon discovers what appears to be JESSICA, however something is not at all right. As she gazes for just a while longer she is pounced upon by the newly captive reporter and is murdered instantly, with their body never to be discovered.
REPORTER 2
(sadness in their voice, well spoken)

Audience reserch

A motion picture rating system is designated to classify films with regard to suitability for audiences in terms of issues such as sex, violence, substance abuse, profanity, impudence or other types of mature content. A particular issued rating can be called a certification, classification, certificate or rating

Referring to the statistics of our researches and considering the classification of movies from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) and the socio-economic groups, the movie “CAPTIVE” should be suitable for over 16. A 16+ certificate movie can’t contain any sexual activity with details or scenes that could promote drugs however few scenes show quite disturbing activities of the reporter being possessed.
The target audience of this Captive would preliminary be young adults and adult to some extent (aged18-25 year old) from C-E socio economic groups. The film is a horror genre with moderate level of suspense more suitable for teens and younger adults therefore the movie would not be a good entertainment for a person over the age of 25.
The movie is mainly aimed at a British audience thus the choice of the location, Essex, but it’s still accessible to anyother English speaking audience. Being a low budget film, Captive . We put a lot of mysterious scenes in our 2 minute opening sequence so we hope to reach people from other economic groups or with higher income.

Preliminary task

the prliminiary task was to shoot a sequence including a character opening the a door, crossing a room and sitting down iin a chair opposite another character with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of a dialogue.
the match on action, shot/revers shot and the 180* rule.

I had to do this taks with another group because my group wasn't there on the day.
Although we did the task we missunderstood the fact that it was meant to be a sequence but we did our video in a kind documentary format.

During the shooting of the sequence i've learned how to use a digital camera, setting up the tripode, putting the film inside and some other stuff like what to do to stop the camera from being wambly.
i've also learned how to used Final Cut Pro for Mac.
