We chose this background music uploaded by Dragunugard on youtube because it creates a kind of creepy atmosphere which is good for the opening sequence in the first 10 seconds or so.
This sound is very effective for a horror genre movie, it creates suspense and it's intriguing as the audience is drawing their attention to what is going to happen next but they still don't know what!
Tuesday, 7 February 2012Brainstorm- non diagetic/diagetic sounds
Considering using this particular piece of music in the beginning of the opening sequence as the credits are introduced just before the news report in the graveyeard. We feel this is suitable for our opening sequence as it creates tension and builds a feeling of suspense amongst the viewer and draws them into the film wondering what is about to happen. The piece is relatively slow paced which adds to its contribution to the opening sequence.
Other sounds which will be included are the use of dialogue from the news reports.
First report in graveyard:
'We're here in Cromley cemetery on this cold night to investigate an apparent sighting of ghosts, we're not quite sure what we are expecting to....'
'look out!'
Cameraman drops camera so woman's feet/legs are in shot
Woman screams as she is dragged away
Final report:
'A news reporter from London Daily has been reported missing after she did not return home early Sunday.....'
Diagetic sounds....
Add screams in background and of woman being dragged away.
Fizzling out as camera is dropped.
I also made sure that i got the copyright from the author of the soundtrack.

Some really good planning and research - level 4 (A/B grade)
